The Republic Day dawn
trumpeting its auspicious arrival
tricolors waving everywhere
Sudden ringing of the phone
cutting through the festivities
followed by a scream...
piercing and heart rending
Without their bright shining Sun
Will Mars, Mercury et al..
Ever shine again
Bereft of its gravity
Will these planets hold together...
Come Jupiter you have to grow now
and keep the flock together...

Lol, Vivek, I know its a beautiful language from the little I have heard!! And oh yes, I have had the opportunity to interact with those from the Mahar Regiment, a Unit of which was at Secunderabad while my husband had been posted there.

Vivek, though I don't know Marathi, I am sure this must have come out even better in its original. It is always a sad moment when you lose someone whom you love and respect and who holds everyone together like the Sun. And then Jupiter has to awaken... to take on the mantle.
